City Center Plaza in Boise is the definition of unique and complex. 371,000 sf of dense mixed-use including a transit hub, retail and restaurants, offices and classrooms for Boise State University, emerging software technology offices, and convention center space — all overlooking the most prominent public space in downtown Boise. Every project has multiple end users — often intent on pulling in different directions. As the leader of the design team, our role was to analyze the specific space criteria for each of the various entities, and then synthesize the information to produce a cohesive and organized design.
Created by voters in 1959, The District completed construction of the original Boise Centre in 1990. With continued growth in Boise, City Center Plaza now offers a much needed additional five-story premier convention space. Our team collaborated with the Greater Boise Auditorium District (GBAD) to create elaborate ballrooms, spacious meeting rooms and intimate pre-function spaces.
Beneath the nine-story Clearwater Building is an underground multi-modal transportation center. It is a central hub for local transit services including buses, bicyclists and pedestrians. This project is a catalyst for the Boise downtown economic development bringing together multiple public and private entities.
